Their mild, earthy taste makes them an easy addition to various dishes, as they don’t overpower more dominant flavors. Don’t worry about soaking these humble little legumes: All they need is a relatively quick boil on the stovetop.
How to cook brown lentils (basic instructions)
- Sort and rinse 1 cup of lentils and combine with 3 cups of water or stock.
- Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce the heat to simmer for about 30 to 45 minutes or until the lentils are fully cooked to tender. Season to your liking.
