It is then dried and finely cracked, resulting in a small grain that cooks very quickly. When cooked, fine bulgur is tender and fluffy and has a nutty earthiness. It is somewhat similar to couscous and can be used as a substitute.

How to Use

  • Rinse the amount of fine bulgur you need and place it in a bowl.
  • Add plenty of hot water (about double the amount of bulgur).
  • Allow it to sit for about 15 minutes or so, until the bulgur has softened and absorbed all the water.

Suzy's Tips

Fine bulgur can be used in almost any recipe that calls for couscous. I like to make my chicken couscous and shrimp and chorizo recipes with fine bulgur wheat for a little different flavor.
